السلام~Salam!~ The Mission~& ~Vision of JBT
Greetings! My name is Fathia aka Fathiya Barkadle, the creator and author of Jewels of Being a Teacher blog. I’m a secondary ELL/ELA teacher and tri-curricular curriculum designer (ELL, ELA, & Social Studies). I have earned my bachelor in psychology and education with the emphasis of TESOL (Teaching English as a Second to Other Languages). Additionally, I have master’s of education in curriculum and instruction. I have taught both and facilitated as English Language Development teacher. I’m currently an ELD educator and National Board Certified Teacher (NBT) candidate. I LOVE TEACHING and I consider myself a true lifelong learner.
Outside of education realm: I wear several hats! I am also a certified relationship coach–focusing on couples. My hobbies are doing yoga, reading, journaling, baking or cooking, and enjoying a cup of tea or coffee. Additionally, I love doing hands on stuff such as henna designing and creating jewelries.
My vision for this site is:
- to spread the jewels of being a teacher and differences that one can me.
- to provide tips on teaching toolkits and self-care.
- to empower both new and veteran teachers to thrive in their education endeavors.
